F.UG. by Mirkka Metsola

Olen perustanut nimeni alle toisen tuotemerkin pääasiallisen Mirkka Metsola-merkin rinnalle.

F.UG. by Mirkka Metsola

F.UG. by Mirkka Metsola, originally known as Freedom Underground was established in 2001. ”In 2001 I was only a sixth former with a vision of my own label and business. I wanted to express my passion for music and subcultures through underground fashion and style. I was born into a family with a strong mother figure who was a fashion designer and had her own business. So ”F.UG.” got its name from my mothers previous leather clothing label called Freedom. Freedom Underground lived only a short period of time and went to sleep just as soon as it had woken in 2002, because Mirkka wanted to continue her studies and grow a little. Now in 2010 Freedom Underground is back and alive, with a new wibe and have never felt better. ”F.UG.” is rather androgyne and represents more of the street style of Mirkka Metsola designs. It will deliver new collections every year just as the main brand Mirkka Metsola.

F.UG. by Mirkka Metsola / Ain´t it fun? / SS 10 collection

Torn Tunic 85.00€ // One size // 100% co // Unisex // F.UG. by Mirkka Metsola

Since 2002 I´ve had at least four big boxes of brand new men t-shirts in my custody. The problem was that in every single one of them had a terrible print on the front of a naked lady sitting on a ball. It´s a long story how did I got those 200 t-shirts, but the point is I didn´t have the nerves to throw them away, so I´ve been wondering nearly eight years what to do with them. Well, finally two years ago I got inspired during the time I was studying printing and surface design in London. Only now I´ve had time to do something out of the materials I have. We have chopped, cut, washed, printed, cropped and made totally new pieces out of those basic t-shirts. Only thing we haven´t used again was the original print on the front.

Ain´t it fun ?– SS 10 -collection contains pieces both to women and men, especially onesize/unisex products. The main line is the prints I designed in London and the recycled materials we resurrected to be something very playfull and chic. Every piece is unique and hand printed. This collection got its name from the ambience of fun and inspiration but also from a very nostalgic tune of the Dead Boys that Radio Helsinki played while we were making my designs.
